This Editorial Policy explains how Depplo researches, tests, scores, and publishes content across our VPN, gaming, AI, and software coverage. We publish this methodology publicly so readers and partners understand exactly how our conclusions are reached.
1. Editorial Independence
Depplo’s editorial and commercial functions are kept separate. Writers and editors are not compensated based on affiliate conversions generated by their articles, and product scores are not shared with or approved by advertisers or affiliate partners prior to publication. Where a commercial relationship exists with a reviewed company, it is disclosed per our Affiliate Disclosure.
2. Research Process
Before publishing a review or news article, our team typically:
- Reviews the vendor’s official documentation, terms of service, and privacy policy
- Cross-references independent, verifiable third-party sources and, where relevant, regulatory filings or jurisdictional records
- Uses the product hands-on where feasible
- Compares the product against direct competitors using consistent criteria
3. Hands-On Testing Methodology
VPN Reviews
Where possible, we test VPN providers for connection speed and latency from multiple geographic locations and server counts, DNS/IP/WebRTC leak protection, kill-switch reliability, no-logs claims (cross-referenced against jurisdiction, audit history, and any public incident history), streaming and torrenting compatibility, and apps across supported platforms.
Gaming Reviews
We evaluate gameplay mechanics, performance (frame rate and stability where hardware testing is applicable), value for money, monetization model, and comparison to genre peers, typically after meaningful play time rather than a cursory first impression.
AI Tool Reviews
We test AI products against realistic, task-based prompts relevant to their advertised use case, assess output quality and consistency across multiple runs, evaluate pricing tiers and usage limits, and review the vendor’s data-handling and training-data practices as publicly documented.
Software Reviews
We evaluate core functionality against advertised features, ease of setup and use, performance and stability, pricing/value, customer support quality where testable, and update/release history.
4. Scoring
Where we publish numerical or star ratings, they are derived from a consistent internal rubric weighted across relevant categories for that product type (e.g., for VPNs: speed, security, privacy, price, and usability). Scores reflect the product’s state at the time of testing and are revisited during periodic re-reviews.
5. Updates and Re-Testing
Technology products change frequently. We aim to periodically revisit major reviews to confirm continued accuracy of pricing, features, and performance claims, and we update articles when we become aware of material changes. Updated articles reflect a revised “last updated” date where our publishing workflow displays one.
6. Corrections Policy
If a reader or vendor identifies a factual inaccuracy, we investigate and, where warranted, issue a correction. Significant corrections may be noted within the article. Corrections can be requested at admin@depplo.com.
7. Sponsored and Paid Content
Any sponsored article, paid placement, or paid review is clearly labeled as such and is held to the same accuracy standard as our independent content. We do not publish demonstrably false claims regardless of payment.
8. Conflicts of Interest
Contributors are expected to disclose any personal financial interest, employment relationship, or other conflict of interest with a company they are covering, beyond standard affiliate program participation, so it can be appropriately disclosed or reassigned.
9. Corrections and Feedback
We welcome reader feedback on our methodology. Contact admin@depplo.com with suggestions or concerns.
